A composer cannot be anxious, Massimo, he said. An artist cannot be anxious. To be anxious is to live in time, he said, and the composer lives in eternity. Not all the time, of course, he said, but when he is composing he lives in the moment and he lives in eternity. When the composer understands that the moment and eternity are one and the same thing then he is on the way to becoming a real composer.
